Visiting The Sma' Shot Cottages

FAQs About Visiting The Cottages

Where & When?

You will find us in the heart of Paisley town centre with access via Sma Shot Lane or Shuttle Street. See the Contact page for our location & map.

We are open from the start of April until the end of September every Wednesday (12 noon to 4pm), Friday (1pm to 5pm) and Saturday (12 to 4).

Bonus Day: We open each year for the Paisley Christmas Lights switch on at the end of November!

Entry and the guided tour is free but we would appreciate a donation or a purchase in our gift shop. Your donation pays for the upkeep of the cottages, as a charity we are reliant on your support to preserve and maintain these historical buildings.

Tours & Access

Do you need to book in advance for a tour?
No, there is no need for an individual or a small group to book in advance. Drop in during our open hours and a volunteer will take you on a tour.
If you are coming on a Friday, afternoon tea is available & an advance booking would be preferred.
Over 12 people would be considered a group tour, so please do let us know in advance through the contact page.

Is there disabled access?
Yes, there is disabled access via the Shuttle Street entrance. Only the upstairs section of the main cottage is inaccessible. There is access to the weaver's cottage
, the tea room, the garden and the downstairs section of the main cottage.

Is there parking?

We do not have a car park, but there is on-street parking in the area surrounding the cottages and a nearby multistorey car park.

Can a tour be organised on a date you are not open to the public?

For the best experience, please try to organise your visit one of the days the cottages are open to the public and we have our full team of volunteers on hand.

However, if you are a group visiting from overseas on dates that we are not open, feel free to contact us and we will let you know if we are able to accommodate you.
